SCAI Finance Committee Election | Dr. Michael Megaly Joins National Governance of Interventional Cardiology

In April 2025, Dr. Michael Megaly, MD, MS, FACC, FSCAI was elected to the Finance Committee of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), serving a three-year term through May 2028.

The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions is the primary professional society for interventional cardiologists in the United States. Its membership encompasses the physicians who perform coronary and peripheral vascular catheterization, and its committees shape the standards, guidelines, and policy positions that govern how interventional cardiology is practiced nationally. Committee membership is determined through election and appointment within the society's governance structure, it is not an honorary title.

The Finance Committee holds governance-level responsibility for the fiscal oversight of the society. Committee members are elected from among SCAI's active membership, which includes interventional cardiologists with demonstrated engagement in research, education, and advocacy within the field. Dr. Megaly's election to a three-year term places him among the physicians directly involved in the institutional direction of the organization.

Dr. Megaly joined the committee as an interventional cardiologist at Integris Health Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he focuses on complex high-risk coronary interventions, chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention, surgical turn-down cases, complex peripheral artery disease, and limb salvage procedures. His engagement with SCAI's national structure extends beyond this committee appointment, he previously served on the NCDR CathPCI Registry Research and Publications Subcommittee of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry and has been an abstract reviewer for the American College of Cardiology's interventional cardiology section in multiple cycles.

SCAI committee participation at this level requires a multi-year commitment and is recognized within the specialty as a marker of active national engagement. For interventional cardiologists, involvement in the society's governance is a direct channel for contributing to how the profession defines quality, access, and policy in catheterization-based procedures.

The SCAI Finance Committee term runs from April 2025 through May 2028.
